PRIVACY
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how OBSERVER OF THE WORLD handles information when you use the website, install the app, or make a daily PUSH.
1. Free use and device identifier
Free use of OBSERVER OF THE WORLD does not require an account. A random technical device identifier is stored in a secure browser cookie so the service can apply the daily PUSH rule and maintain basic service integrity. This identifier is not intended to identify you by name.
2. Information used for a PUSH
When a PUSH is submitted, OBSERVER OF THE WORLD processes the device identifier, country code, local calendar date, UTC date, timezone information, and submission time needed to record the PUSH, calculate counts, and apply the once-per-local-day rule.
OBSERVER OF THE WORLD does not request or use GPS or the device's precise-location permission. The country code is estimated from Cloudflare IP geolocation and the timezone is obtained from Cloudflare request metadata. These network-derived values may not always match the user's physical location exactly. If a supported country code cannot be determined, PUSH may be unavailable.
Where OBSERVER MODE is enabled, world views use aggregated country / territory or regional activity and are not designed to display a person's identity. The request IP address is used for network security and verification but is not stored in the normal OBSERVER OF THE WORLD PUSH records in the application database.
3. MY LOG
Free-use MY LOG is stored locally in browser or installed-app storage on the user's device. It is not uploaded as an account history or synchronized to another device. Local history remains subject to the browser or operating system's storage controls and may be removed if application or site data is cleared.
4. Cookies and local storage
OBSERVER OF THE WORLD uses limited browser storage for core functions. This includes a device cookie used for daily PUSH control, local storage used for MY LOG, short-lived session storage used during the install flow, and an access cookie where WORLD ACCESS is enabled.
The device cookie is currently configured with a maximum age of up to two years unless it is removed earlier by the user or browser. Access cookies use their own expiry period. Removing cookies or site storage may cause the service to create new local identifiers or lose local state.
5. Security and Cloudflare
OBSERVER OF THE WORLD uses Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting, network delivery, database functions, abuse protection, rate limiting, IP geolocation, and Turnstile verification. Cloudflare may process technical request and browser information as part of providing those services.
Turnstile is used to help distinguish normal user activity from automated or abusive traffic. Information processed by Cloudflare is also subject to Cloudflare's applicable privacy terms and policies.
6. Retention
Server-side maintenance is designed to remove older device-level participation records after approximately 45 days and transient live-event records after a shorter period. Cleanup runs as part of service activity, so actual deletion timing may vary.
Aggregated country / territory counts used for cumulative OBSERVER MODE world totals may be retained for the life of the service so the public cumulative counts can continue from the OBSERVER OF THE WORLD public launch.
Local MY LOG is separate from those server-side records and remains on the user's device until removed by the user, browser, application, or operating system.
Purchase records needed for payment and WORLD ACCESS administration may be retained as needed for those purposes.
7. Choices, external services, and changes
You can remove local OBSERVER OF THE WORLD data through your browser or operating system controls. Doing so may remove MY LOG, installation state, cookies, or other local service state.
Current infrastructure and security services are provided by Cloudflare, which processes information under its own applicable policies.
WORLD ACCESS payments are processed by Paddle. OBSERVER OF THE WORLD receives and stores limited purchase and access-status information needed to provide paid access and handle payment-status changes. Full payment card details are not stored by OBSERVER OF THE WORLD.
This Policy may be updated when the service, data handling, or applicable requirements change. The current version will be published on this page together with its last-updated date.
